MWCCC: Marian dominates Conference Championships

The Midwest Collegiate Cycling Conference wrapped up its 2016 MTB season this weekend at Lindenwood. Marian captured most of the individual events and the overall team title. Marian’s Alec BOB and Angelina PALERMO emerge as the strongest Downhill riders in the MWCCC. Marian has talent in both quality and quantity in Dual Slalom event. RMCCC: FLC and CU take season long team competitions

Angel Fire Resort host the RMCCC Championships this past weekend and the weather cooperated for the first time in 3 weeks. With double points on the line, the teams tackled a full schedule of Downhill, Dual Slalom, Cross Country and Short Track events. When the dust settled, Fort Lewis College emerged as the top Varsity team and the University of Colorado Boulder as the top Club team. Both teams are favorites for the National team titles in their respective divisions.

CU Buffs Delilah Cupp breaks collarbone, will miss Nationals

The University of Colorado Boulder lost one of its strong female riders to injury this weekend at the RMCCC Championship. Delilah CUPP (So.) broke her collarbone in a crash on her Dual Slalom qualifying run. This will impact the outcome at Nationals where we expect a tight battle between the top club programs including the University of Vermont and the University of Colorado Boulder. ∞

UNH/RIT hosted the conference championships this past weekend. The University of Vermont won the team overall ahead of the University of New Hampshire and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. UVM goes into Nationals a favorite for the overall win in the club division.

The SECCC was split this past weekend with King University hosting a race in Bristol, VA while 250 miles away in Columbia, KY, Lindsey Wilson put on a joint MWCCC/SECCC race. While Marian, Lindsey Wilson, and Lindenwood and battled in Columbia, Brevard, Lees-McRae, King, Piedmont, Warren Wilson and others faced off in Bristol. WVU’s Cooper Rock Classic and CU’s Snowmass MTB Weekend were both cancelled due to inclement weather and trail conditions. The SCCCC, ECCC, SECCC, and MWCCC will race as scheduled. Look for updated results and rankings next week!

Varsity/Club MTB rider counts

USA Cycling is in the process of reassigning schools to their new “divisions”. This was achieved on-site at Track Nationals and as MTB Nationals approaches, CCN is starting to see evidence of the changeover in the data we collect directly from USA Cycling.
