Sepp Kuss to skip MTB Nationals

The University of Colorado Boulder will be missing its 3x National Champ Sepp KUSS in Snowshoe. Sepp has been making a gradual transition from MTB to the road over the last two years. This season saw him complete that transition with two North American professional victories. Kuss picked up a mountain top stage win at the Tour of Redlands and another at Tour de Beauce. His Redlands performance earned him a spot on the Rally Cycling Professional Team for the 2nd half of the season. Sepp will be riding with Rally in 2017.

Sepp took the XC title last year in Snowshoe and both the STXC and XC titles in 2014 at Beech Mountain. Sepp’s wins in 2014 contributed to the upset team championship title as the University of Colorado Boulder outperformed varsity powerhouses Marian University and Fort Lewis College. Sepp’s absence combined with the new club/varsity split opens the door for some other strong contenders for the Club Division XC and STXC titles.

Sepp returned the school this September after a long road season and has opted to take a break rather than try to extend his form through the Collegiate MTB season. It is unlikely that Sepp will ride Collegiate Road Nationals in May either due to the scheduling conflict with Redlands in 2017.
